The Stampede is SMU's official student spirit organization responsible for student engagement and game day environments. Stampede Leaders are expected to represent SMU and the student body by exemplifying the Mustang spirit and creating impactful and imposing student sections throughout a variety of sports.

The Stampede student section leaders are expected to arrive at events on time and stay until the event ends. Stampede Leaders are not expected or required to stay on campus during school breaks. Stampede Leaders are expected to work the majority of football games if chosen to be a football section leader or 75% of basketball games if chosen to be a basketball section leader.

You must be a current SMU student to participate in the program. The commitment for the program is year to year with the option for the student to return to the program and advance in leadership positions within the Stampede. Students must be willing to collaborate with others and staff.

Stampede Leaders receive a variety of benefits, including exclusive gear, exclusive access to behind-the-scenes athletics events, guaranteed premium seating in the student sections at football and basketball, and unique opportunities to interact with coaches and staff.
